Everyone who teaches Spanish in the USA knows that finding books for our students is very challenging. I have found myself asking for donations to build up my classroom library in order to expose my students to the written language.   I am fortunate to have good friends who have helped me in this mission. 

In my search looking for books, I run into a very interesting page that promotes books in Spanish. But this is not the only good part. The best part that the books are authentic books and not translated from English, which means the books were written by Spanish speakers authors for Spanish speakers readers. Most of the books come directly from South America, and more than likely, you will not find them in any other place in the USA.

All you need, is a time capsule where to keep your student's responses. It can be a coffee can, envelope or a plastic container. Remember you will let your students open this time capsule at the end of the school year. 

You can find this packet in my TPT store or my TN Store.

These pennants come in two different formats with very basic information. I will use these pennants as a beginning of the school year activity (after the scavenger hunt and the time capsule included in this packet). I can't wait to post pictures of the final result!

Have you done your good deed for the day?

This year I am helping to implement a new program at a Spanish Dual Immersion School. As a new program, there are many resources and needs to be fulfilled, and of course, a classroom library is one of them. This is obviously a challenge, but oh! I love challenges! especially if it involves teaching Spanish or a new teaching project.

With that being said, I decided to open an account in www.adoptmyclassroom.org and  digitalwishlist for support.

  

Blogging opened the door to meet many other bloggers from around the USA and world, and it has been FUN! It was during this journey that I run into Multicultural Children Book Day (MCCBD) and Becky Flansburg @ Franticmommy.

Well, guess what? my blogger friends from MCCBD and Francticmommy were one of the first ones to come to my rescue. They not only adopted my classroom, but also sent me a box full of multicultural books for my library, THANK YOU! 

Last year a started this blog with the purpose to talk about Spanish language and culture,  bilingual education in general and share Spanish teaching resources. In addition to that, this journey has also taken me to virtually meet generous and passionate people about teaching languages. And I am very grateful for that!

I as mentioned before, I currently have two fundraisers running, adoptmyclassroom.com and digitalwishlist if you want to donate. Of course books are always welcome, Spanish or bilingual; kindly loved or new. For this purpose, I have created an Amazon wish list that goes directly to the school address. Just write my name on the recipient area to make sure the books go to my classroom.
